Eligible Students: All Chinese School Students
Time: 11:30-12:30
Location: Student Lounge
Tuition: $35/student/semester. The tuition covers payments for dance teachers and space rental. The dance class begins in the fall of 2007 when Chinese School semester starts, and ends with the Annual Chinese New Year Performance Night in the spring of 2008.
Goal: Students will be divided into groups and each group will learn and practice a Chinese style dance that will be performed at the end-of-school party and at the Annual Chinese New Year Performance Night.
Costume costs: Students who participate in shows that are selected for the Chinese New Year Performance will need commercial-quality costumes to be custom-ordered from China. The cost of each costume set plus shipping will be collected later in the semester and is estimated to be $40-50. Each student will be responsible for paying for his/her own costume set.
Parent Assistance: All parents of the dance-class students are expected to take turns to work as a Parent Assistant during each class. The Parent Assistant will be mainly responsible for keeping the order of the class, no dancing experience is required. An assignment sheet of Parent Assistant will be compiled at the beginning of the semester.

Goals: Learn fundamentals of Chinese Martial Arts to build balance, endurance, coordination, flexibility, speed, and strength; gain exposure to an important part of Chinese culture; learn basic martial arts routines suitable for performances and competitions; build self-esteem and concentration through visible progress on martial arts fundamentals
Approach: each class features warm-up exercises, stretching, learning and repeating fundamental moves, learning and repeating basic sequences of moves (routines), and muscle training

Eligible Students: Chinese School Students between 9-14 years old (15th birthday must be after 12/31/2008). Must registered in ETCS in 2008 and be truly interested in this competition.
Time: 11:30 – 12:30

Team Size: 3-10 kids
Tuition: $35/student/semester. The tuition covers payments for art teacher and space rental.
Additional costs: Students who participate in this class will need to pay additional costs related to team registration, parts, software and other accessories. The estimated cost will be about $700 per team (to be paid by team members, not by ETCS)
Purpose: Prepare eligible ETCS students to participate in 2008 First Lego League (FLL) challenge. The students will learn Lego building/engineering, graphic computer programming, problem solving, sensors and electronic parts, team work, presentation skills (for team presentation)
Commitment: The students who are really interested in Lego Robot competition will form team (at least one team will be formed by May 2008). Just like any competitive sports here, the student will need to commit 1-2 hrs per week on the project (up to 10 hrs per week before the tournament). The parents will need to assist the coach and volunteer their time to help the team especially during tournament(s).

Tuition: $35/student/semester. The tuition covers payments for art teacher and space rental.
Additional costs: Students will need to pay SAT Math preparation books. The cost of the books is expected between $20 to $40/student, to be paid by parents, not by ETCS.
Purpose: Prepare middle and high school students for SAT Math and PSAT tests.

Eligible Students: All Chinese School Students
Time: 11:30-12:30
Location: 3rd floor of Ned R. McWherter building
Tuition: $35/student/semester.
Goal: Students will learn and play 围棋(WeiQi) . There will be an end-of-the-semester tournament for both games with small prizes for winners.
Chess sets: Students whose families have 围棋(WeiQi) sets are kindly asked to bring them to each class.
